The US launched a third wave of airstrikes on Iranian military targets in the south, hitting approximately 140 sites, as Iran’s IRGC declared the Strait of Hormuz closed until further notice and attacked a ship in the waterway. Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes on US bases in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar, and targeted Gulf states including the UAE. Regional mediators are pushing for US-Iran talks in Qatar and Oman to avert further escalation.

Ayatollah Khamenei was laid to rest in Mashhad, concluding a days-long funeral procession marked by calls for revenge against the US and Israel. The US denied carrying out reported strikes in southern Iran overnight, while Israel warned Washington of a new Iranian assassination plot against President Trump. In Lebanon, a US official said IDF troops would withdraw from pilot zones in the coming days, and in Gaza, the IDF continued operations, killing at least six and attempting to assassinate a Hamas spokesman.

US and Iranian negotiators opened technical talks in Doha to implement the bilateral MoU, while Israel signaled it will not withdraw from southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi warned that any threat against Iran’s leadership would be met with an “immediate and decisive response.” In Gaza, Israeli strikes killed a Palestinian goalkeeper and injured civilians in Gaza City.
